Jones 1, PK 104-29.1
By Lino Benz
PK 104-29.1, also known as "Jones 1," is a very faint and ghostly planetary nebula in the constellation of Pegasus. It was discovered in 1941 by Rebecca Jones. It is located about 2,300 light-years from Earth. Its diameter is estimated to be about 4 light-years. At the center of the nebula is a white dwarf star, which, by expelling its outer layers, formed the nebula itself. A quasar (VV2006) J233604.7+302355 (near the nebula) was also captured, with a magnitude of 19.7 and a distance of 10 billion light years.
