Wolf's Cave - Barnard 175
By Nerci Flückiger
The image shows Barnard 175, a dark nebula located in the constellation Cepheus. It's a dense cloud of gas and dust that blocks the light of background stars, standing out against the reddish emissions of ionized hydrogen from the nearby supernova remnant SNR G110.3+11.3. Structures like this are important cosmic laboratories for studying star formation and the interaction between supernova shock waves and molecular clouds. There were: - 226 5-minute frames (18.8 hours) over 4 nights, without a filter; - 105 5-minute frames (8.75 hours) over 3 nights with DNB C1 and SV220 filters; - 53 10-minute frames (8.80 hours) over 2 nights with DNB SV220 filters; Totaling 36.30 hours of exposure.
