The wolf cave nebula ldn1217, VDB152, ldn1221

By Carmelo Algeri

A massive corridor of cosmic dust obscuring the background stars, interspersed with the faint reflection nebula VdB152, colored blue by the star BD+691231 (mag 9.3). Approximately 1,300 light-years away, this stellar black hole displays reddish streaks (Extended Red Emission) due to ionized dust. Captured over 25 hours and processed on PixInsight to enhance texture and contrast. Taken in the Madonie Mountains in Sicily, Italy, between late June and early July 2025.
