NGC5128 Centaurus A

By Rodrigo Maeda

One of the most famous galaxies in the southern sky, captured here in 95 frames of 300 seconds from my backyard. Located in the constellation of Centaurus, the galaxy harbors a supermassive black hole at its center, which is active and emitting high-speed jets of particles. It is well known for its prominent dark dust lane that runs through its center, the result of a merger with another galaxy.
