Lynds Dark Nebula 673
By André Vilhena
LDN 673, also known as Lynds Dark Nebula 673, is a dark nebula located at about 1300 light years in the constellation Aquila. Dark nebulae are dense clouds of dust and gas that obscure the light from background stars or other celestial objects, making them appear as dark patches in the sky. I saw this one last year in an excellent image taken by my friend @astro.midnight and added it to my list - this year, with the new telescope, I finally decided to give it a go. Its fine structure, which is not that common in these types of nebulas, make it look to me an intricate japanese character. I’ve seen it described in different fashion but regardless of it, it is another example of our beautiful cosmos. This photo was taken on June 26th and 27th 2025. It has 6h12 integration time using RGB filters.
